North American Rescue HyFin Vent Chest Seal - Twin Pack - NAR-10-0037
The HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack from North American Rescue sets the standard for the prevention, management and treatment of an open and/or tension pneumothorax potentially caused by a penetrating chest trauma. Two seals, each individually packaged, are designed to allow the user to apply a seal to both an entry or an exit wound while also giving the option to only apply one and store the other until needed as the situation requires. This innovative design provides 3-vented channels designed to prevent airflow into the chest cavity during inhalation while allowing air to escape through the vent channels during exhalation. The 3-vent channels are designed to allow blood to escape and also provide a backup fail-safe system, as even if two of the three channels become obstructed, the vent is designed to remain fully operational. Advanced adhesive technology provides superior adhesion as the HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack is specifically designed to overcome adverse conditions in austere environments where the casualty may be covered in blood, sweat, body hair, or other environmental contaminants when a reliable chest seal is mandatory. Packaged in a more compact, rugged, easy-to-open twin foil pouch, each chest seal also includes a gauze pad to wipe the wound surface prior to application. The HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack has a large red pull tab for single-step peel-and-apply application, while the transparent backing facilitates easy placement over the wound area, conforming to the patient's chest. The North American Rescue SPEAR (Simplified Pneumothorax Emergency Air Release) Kit is the latest innovation in needle decompression technology. The versatile device has been designed and developed based directly on science, user feedback, and known gaps in the management of tension pneumothorax. Each design feature has been carefully crafted to enhance the user experience and increase the probability of success when a life is on the line. The convenient device allows either lateral decompression or traditional anterior needle thoracostomy. The SPEAR device features a sharper needle point, reducing the amount of force required to insert the needle, as well as a spin-lock feature that helps prevent premature separation between the needle and catheter. To help with confirmation of depth and success, the device has centimeter depth markings and a detachable, low-pressure, one-way check valve that creates an audible whistle as air rushes through. The one-way valve can be removed from the needle and either reapplied to the catheter or left off entirely, according to local protocols. Upon removal of the needle, the remaining catheter is a flexible, kink-resistant material with a soft tip to lessen the impact on possible tissue contact. The Gen 7 C-A-T utilizes a durable windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band providing true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once adequately tightened, bleeding will cease and the windlass is locked into place. A hook and loop windlass retention strap is then applied, securing the windlass to maintain pressure during casualty evacuation. For the upgraded ARS for Needle Decompression from North American Rescue, the best minds in the field were applied to the best available data. The patented design improves the probability of success when managing casualties who present with signs and symptoms of a tension pneumothorax. To achieve this end, NAR participated in a two-year collaboration with pre-hospital providers and continuously analyzed data obtained from ongoing combat operations for patients whose symptoms suggested a collapsed lung (difficulty in breathing, chest drains, etc.). Then, NARe went one step further. They incorporated failsafe characteristics into the product design. For example, an easy-open container protects the needle from damage during deployment. Also, they removed the flash cap from the needle system to allow immediate confirmation of placement.
