RR1202 Rough Ryder Melon Tester

So this is a very unique knife blade, it's a spear point, in a slip joint configuration. The fit and finish is very consistent with all Rough Ryder knives which is to say very high quality to cost ratio. This has real bone handles with brass liners and pins and is quite elegant looking. It's branded as a melon tester in a category with similar style but they all have a much more blunt tip. I see this knife as useful in a camp food prep. service, could also serve as a steak knife. The back spring tension I would call medium to medium light, there is no half stop unlike most other Rough Ryder knives. The blade is sharp with very little wobble but is not meant to do robust work, again better served with fruit harvesting or food prep of some sort. The uniqueness is the shape of the blade, I have not seen anything like it, which does make it collectable. Someday it will probably go away. Personally I love it. Well worth the price!
