It looks like wood and feels like wood, but it is actually pieces of hardwood veneer infused with plastic resins which are then stacked and compressed into blocks. Pakkawood is far more durable than most kinds of wood, and you can wash it and use it for years without seeing any ill effects!

They can differ in color, appearance, and feel, but for the most part, they are consistently durable and beautiful. Be careful with wood handles in wet conditions though.
