Marbles Jungle Bowie Belt Sheath 10 Inch - MR310410S

I am a recently retired cop who served as a SWAT Sniper for 15 years of my career. Part of my job was to test and evaluate tactical equipment from uniforms, to ballistic vests, to weapons. Marbles, as a whole, generally produces high quality gear at a reasonable, sometimes bargain price. I purchased two of these sheaths to fit two different bowie-styled knives, and I have a mixed review. The body of the sheath itself is well constructed of heavy ballistic nylon-type material. Rugged/dependable. But it seems like the rest of the sheath was turned over to someone who had no appreciation for what the sheath was intended for. The two "survival gear" pockets on the exterior are located too close together which makes the bottom pocket almost unusable. I say almost because you have to empty the top pocket in order to utilize the bottom pocket. They need to be spaced farther apart. Secondly, the belt loop is made of a very flimsy nylon type material totally unlike the sheath. It flops all over and seems vulnerable to tearing. Speaking of "flimsy" and "tearing", the retention strap used to keep the knife in the sheath was pathetic. It was made from very flimsy material with a small hook-and-loop type retention patch. Even worse, the stitching on the back ripped out with very little pressure applied to the handle of the knife it was supposed to retain. This happened on both sheaths. I can't recommend this for purchase if the intent is to actually carry it on a belt or attached to a pack. I'm afraid that a person deploying it in such a fashion would arrive at their destination only to find an empty sheath in what could be an emergency situation. I spent two days modifying the two sheaths to be serviceable but am still not 100% satisfied. I am still on the hunt for a quality sheath. If, however, you are simply looking for something to cover the blade of a large knife and stick it inside of a pack, this would be a very good bargain for the price.

Nice match to bowie blade just completed. Belt loop could be improved but overall a decent match for a bowie build.
