L154S Mercator Black Cat Lockback

I learned about this knife while doing some reading on the infamous Douk Douk. I like this knife much better. Firstly, it locks. The Douk Douk does not. Secondly, it has a sort of spear point blade which I find more useful. The Squirrel by Douk Douk does too, but is rather hard to find. The Mercator is available in carbon steel and stainless like this one. I prefer stainless for practical reasons, but the carbon steel variety seems to be able to be sharpened to a finer edge. If you look around you can also find the handles in materials other than steel, like brass and copper, and stainless steel. It isn't a small knife, but it is incredibly flat and rides in the pocket like a smaller knife. I can't recommend this knife enough. They've been making them like this since the late 19th century. As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They got the design right and it's a great everyday working knife.
