Great value and they work well.
Several years ago I got a broken ceramic rod sharpener about 5 inches long. I found it was good for touching up a blade even though it was short and had no handle. Recently I bought 7 of these rods. I fitted handles to three of them, and set the rest aside for future use. Although some of the rods were slightly warped, this doesn’t seem to matter. I use these rods like a sharpening steel, but a lot of the time I will drag the edge of the knife backwards over the rod. This enables me to work near the end of the rod without catching the blade on the blunt end, and it also makes it safer for me to hold the rod in my hand because only the back of the knife can hit it. Sometimes I will hold a rod vertically with the base pressed against a chopping board. I then can push the edge forward down the rod in a safe manner. If I have a lot of metal to grind off a blade, I prefer to use a coarse or medium bench stone. However these rods can restore a moderately blunt knife to shaving sharp in good time. As a fisherman, hunter, cook and knife enthusiast I really appreciate what these rods can do. I’m pleased I bought them.

I was skeptical at first. I got these because a sharpener that I keep in the shop for the guys to use got dropped and it broke. I ordered these rods and man do they work great. It really took little to no effort to sharpen my knife. There are some knives that are just naturally hard to sharpen, but the ones that I have it works great. The main thing that I liked is that when you run the blade across the rod it is almost like it forms a suction andcan just feel that resistance that it is working like it was designed to do. I am happy with them.

Ceramic Rod Sharpener
This sharpener is amazing. I have a lot of sharpeners, some of them quite expensive, but this rod is a miracle worker. Just a few strokes and you get a razor sharp edge.

I have attached 2 of these rods to an Oak base at a 20 degree angle. They are used in conjunction with an oval hand held diamond sharpener first, then the ceramic rods followed by stropping with soft, then hard leather. This gives me a near razor sharp edge in less than five minutes time. A sharp knife is a joy to work with!
